Meet the Artist
Shannon Fay Werthenbach hones her skills as an acrylic landscape painter in the sleepy seaside village of Grasstree Beach, south of Mackay, North Queensland, Australia. A self taught artist, dipping her toes in the colourful world of painting. Living the last eight years in Grasstree Beach overlooking the beautiful Coral Sea and Whitsunday Islands, after being born and raised in the small country town of Stanthorpe, there are clear coast to country depictions across her portfolio.
The demands of motherhood found Shannon craving an artistic outlet to exercise the creative and imaginative side of her brain, which led to picking up a paintbrush.
“I work intuitively and let my ideas develop freely on the canvas as I go. My photo library is full of sunsets, sunrises, fluffy cloud formations, storms, rural landscapes, and ocean scenes (and my beautiful children of course!)”

With a focus on light, shadow and nature, Shannon is deeply inspired by her surroundings and the beauty of the Australian landscape. A balance of accuracy and abstractness in every piece. Fine brushwork and attention to detail give her work a realist approach while maintaining a dreamlike quality through the use of vivid ethereal colour palettes and more fluid, textural impressionist brush strokes.
