93cm x 93cm | Acrylic on canvas, shadow box framed in Ash

From the artist:

A serene and expansive ocean scene featuring Prudhoe Island. I was inspired to paint this scene when I looked out my kitchen window to see the most beautiful sun rays breaking through thick cumulous clouds on the horizon. I added the silhouette of Prudhoe Island as this painting reminds me of days spent fishing off Grasstree Beach. The painting evokes a sense of tranquillity, stillness and quiet beauty that follows the turbulence of a storm. A palette of deep blues, greys, muted purples and warm whites with gentle sunlight breaking through the clouds gives this painting a peaceful and reflective mood. The storm could symbolise a personal turmoil or challenge for the viewer, with the sunlight, calmness and soft glow denoting the silver lining and coming out the other side.
